It was hardly a surprise when Pantone announced that Dazzling Blue was to be the colour of 2014. We have been seeing an increased use of this beautiful shade of blue over the last few months through out all points of sale.
Dazzling Blue, is a powerful, hard to forget colour that adds a fresh vibrance wherever it is introduced.
Dazzling Blue is a bold, striking colour that reminds us of the warmth of summer yet has a cool freshness conjuring up images of island retreats of the Mediterranean, deep oceans and big open skies. It is a colour that has been exuberantly welcomed by Couture and Interior Designers alike.
As in nature this vital shade of blue sits well with low key contrast such as white, and cream, while holding is own with strong contrast, try it up against black, navy and emerald green – It really is a colour for everyday in all seasons.
Pantone have yet again made it easy to transition from this years Emerald Green to Dazzling Blue as the sit so comfortably together, just see how well the Peacock wears its striking plumes.
This could be your chance to make a bold statement for 2014, try a splash here and there and see how you go.
A feature wall or piece of furniture in Dazzling Blue would certainly make an excellent backdrop for contrasting accessories. Alternatively, try placing a few accent items in Dazzling Blue, cushions and throws, artwork, candles etc., it’s all about enjoying the colour and brining vitality into you home.
Couture is encouraging us to do much the same. If you don’t feel confident enough to wear Dazzling Blue to its full, try the accent of jewellery, belts, bags and shoes.
